| Sardar Patel Memorial
Society (Trust), Chandrapur (M.S.), founded in 1959, is a society
registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 & 1950.
Imbued with the noble objectives of disseminating
high quality technical education and to contribute to realization
of the larger national goal of generating technical manpower that
is up-to-date, armed with in-depth theoretical foundations and applied
skills, morally upright, and patriotic in spirit, it started "Chandrapur
Engineering College, Chandrapur" in 1983, which was subsequently
re-christened as "Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Research
& Technology, Chandrapur in 2000. The College is spread over
42 acres of land with a total built-up area of 35,000 m2.
The society lays strong emphasis on maintaining quality
in all aspects of education, which is evident in the fact that the
college has been awarded "A" Grade by the Government of
Maharashtra and its five programmes have been accredited by the
NBA for a term of 3 years in February 2005.
Motivated with the mission of making the college a
Centre of Excellency in Technical Education in the region, the college
has also started a multi-disciplinary M.Tech. Programme in Energy
Management System in the Department of Electronics and Power Engineering.
The Society realizes fully well the importance of
an institute's constant interface with the industry and undertaking
real-life projects. Accordingly, it has set up a Renewable Energy
Park in association with MEDA, and a Fly Ash Utilisation and Characterisation
Centre at the college.
To ensure smooth and systematic governance, the Society,
which is ably led by Shri Shantaram Potdukhe, Ex-minister of state
for finance, Government of India, as its President, has formed several
committees to look after the various aspects such as purchase, building
& development, finance etc. A Governing Body, consisting of
the following members, has been formed the apex body for regulating
the satisfactory governance of the Society.
